Maggie Bean in Love, Tricia Rayburn, 282 pages, March 28, 2011

I just finished reading 282 pages out of the book Maggie Bean by Tricia Rayburn on March 28, 2011.  It's about a girl named Maggie who has fallen in love with her best friend Arnie.  But their relationship has started to get awkward now that their dating.  And Maggie is determined to get her first kiss with Arnie...soon.  With Maggie's busy schedule already filling up she still has one more thing to work through...the swim team.  The Water Wings team is competing against the regular swim team to find out who gets the pool.  Now Maggie has to juggle school, swim team, her job, her boyfriend, her friend, and her family.  Can she do it all?
My favorite character in this book was Carla.  Carla was Maggie biggest swim fan.  She was really spunky and enthusiastic.  For example, when Carla's mom's truck broke down Carla had to run outside and push it...and she's only in the sixth grade!
I would recommend this book to girls 9-13.

Lily Speaks, Nancy Rue, 115 pages, March 26, 2011

I just finished reading 115 pages out of the book Lily Speaks by Nancy Rue on March 26, 2011.  It's about a girl named Lily who wins a speech contest and gets to go to the county speech contest.  But Lily's friends Zooey and Suzy are being mean since Suzy and Lily are competing.  Now Lily is getting mean notes and cruel voice messags.  Will Lily ever win her friends back?
My favorite characer in this book is Reni because she is very loyal to Lily.  For example, when Lily was being picked on by Zooey, Reni was telling Lily that she would win the speech contest.
I would recommend this book to girls 9-12.

Princess Academy, Shannon Hale, 314 pages, March 24, 2011

I just finished reading 314 pages out of the book Princess Academy by Shannon Hale on March 24, 2011.  It's about a girl named Miri who lives on a mountain and is so small that she is not allowed to work in the quarry.  Instead, Miri tended the goats.  Then a lowlander chief came and announced that the Princess Academy (the academy that trained girls to become princesses) was going to be held on Mount Eskel, Miri's mountain home.  Now Miri was able to become a princess!  But will Miri give up her life on as a mountain girl to become princess?
My favorite character in this book was Doter.  Doter was Miri's friend's mom.  She was very wise.  For example, Doter always knew wise sayings to help comfort people.
I would recommend this book to girls 7+.

The Titan's Curse, Rick Riordan, 312 pages, March 21, 2011

I just finished reading 312 pages out og the book The Titan's Curse by Rick Riordan on March 21, 2011.  It's about a boy named Percy who is sent on a quest to find his best friend Annabeth after she jumped over the side of a cliff with a powerful monster, and Artmeis the Goddis of the Hunt.  Percy, his satyr frined Grover, two Hunters named Bianca and Zoe, and his friend Thalia must travel to San Fransisco to find their friends before the winter solstice.  Or else the two girls will die.
I liked this book because it was suspenseful.  For example, when Luke, Annabeth and Percy ex-friend, tumbles over a cliff, you really wish he was dead because he's so mean and you're just wondering if he is dead.
I would recommend this book to kids 10+.

Rough and Rugged Lily, Nancy Rue, 115 pages, March 19, 2011

I just finished reading 115 pages out of the book Rough and Rugged Lily by Nancy Rue on March 19, 2011.  It's about a girl named Lily who is taking advantage of Christmas and making a super long Christmas list with her brothers Joe and Art.  Then Lily's parents decide to take the kids to a cabin and are only allowed to make homemade Christmas presents and they can't take any electronics.  But then the family van drives off the roads in a snow storm and the hotels are all filled up.  The Robbins' family has to spend a few nights in a high school gym.  Now Lily has to decide what is better...Christmas or trusting God.
I liked this book because it showed the true side of people.  For example, Joe is supposed to be a sports loving crazy kid, but then he meets two year old Angel and starts fathering her and becoming responsible.
I would recommend this book to girls 9-12.

Anne of Green Gables, L.M. Montgomery, 304 pages, March 17, 2011

I just finished reading 304 pages out of the book Anne of Green Gables by L.M. Montgomery on March 17, 2011.  It's about a girl named Anne who is taken to a house called Green Gables from an orphanage asylum.  But Matthew and Marilla, the people who adopted her, were expecting a boy.  Now they have to decide if they should keep her or send her back to the orphanage.  And Anne has to decide if she trusts Matthew and Marilla enough to keep her.
I liked this book because Anne talked a lot.  For example, there were pages taken up of Anne just talking and talking and talking,
I would recommend this book to people 10+.
