I just finished reading a 340 paged book on January 5, 2011 called Ruby's Slippers by Tricia Rayburn. It's about a girl named Ruby who grew up in Curly Creek, Kansas. But after her grandfather dies, Ruby and her mom have to head on over to Coconut Grove, Florida to console Nana Dottie. Ruby has to leave her best friend Gabby and all of her other friends. And now that she's in Florida, Ruby has to try to deal with the Constellation group for the worldwide school talent show Citrus Star. Will Ruby be able to handle it all?
I liked this book because it showed how to be a strong person and deal with things. For example, Ruby had to handle leaving all of her friends back in Kansas and Nana Dottie has to handle the death of her husband.
I would recommend this book to girls 9+
